Kefir drinks
Black Cherry Kefir |
Looking for a healthy protein snack for in-between meals or after your workout?
Check out Kefir.
Kefir is known as "Champagne milk" due it's bubbliness. Kefir has been around since ancient times.
Find Kefir in your supermarket or culture your own.
Culturing your own is super-easy.
Buy a Kefir grain. Place it in a jar of milk. Cover and let sit on counter overnight.
Next morning, take out the grain and place it in a new jar of milk. Refrigerate your newly cultured jar of Kefir.
For those who want to buy it, grocery stores (supermarkets) have at least three flavors on hand.
Plain, Strawberry, and Blueberry. I prefer the plain, because I can dictate how much sugar I add in to the Kefir drink.
To make your Kefir drink, try-
I will take fresh or frozen fruit that I have on hand. I will measure out 1 cup of Kefir.
I add a whole Orange, Blood Orange, Tangerine, Banana, Blueberries, Raspberries, Coconut, Pineapple, etc.
Plain Kefir is slightly sour, like plain yogurt. So try adding a bit of Raw Honey. Try 1/2-1 teaspoon of Raw Honey. Blend your Kefir with a Hand-blender, Food processor, or any other way.
If you don't have Honey to sweeten it, try a teaspoon of jam, real Maple syrup, etc.
