Eagle Release Ceremony

 Sacred Eagle Release performed on sacred Lakota land in eastern South Dakota. The drummers are Lakota tribe chanting in celebration of this sacred event. This eagle had been brought to our zoo in town with, I believe, lead poisoning. He/she was very ill. The eagle was nursed back to health and released with a sacred farewell .  A very special event to be a part of and witness.  Enjoy the captured beauty of this bird, flying with health.

The Lakota people revere the symbol of the Eagle.  The Eagle is held sacred to them.  They  see it as a symbol of courage, strength, and holy.
